Discomfort caused by bruxism can be alleviated with an acrylic rigid orthodontic splint. Of course, the bruxism splint is also used to protect teeth against wear. Ball clasps, which easily adjust to teeth, maintain the splint in place into the mouth. Because the surface of the splint is smooth, the antagonist teeth slide easily onto it. According to each patient's needs, these splints can be fabricated to be fitted on either the maxillary or the mandible.
