Mahony’s twin block

Dr. Derek Mahony’s version of the Twin Block has the same advantages as the Clark Twin Block, with the exception that it provides more room for opening the vertical dimension. Advancement inclined planes placed in the cuspid area allow full freedom of movement when grinding the posterior pads. At Laboratoire Bellomo et Lambert, this version is automatically offered for a Twin Block request when permanent lower cuspids provide enough anchorage to shape retainer clasps onto the teeth. The opening on the Block located behind the incisive papilla along the palate helps the tongue to maintain its position against the palate during deglutition.
